Joan Maute is a true believer in middle level students, teachers, and the notion that "learning never ends." Now retired after more than 30 years as a teacher, team leader, lead teacher, social studies coordinator, and staff development coordinator, Joan continues to write, consult, and teach graduate school. A singer/songwriter with four CDs, music is used in her presentations to illustrate her topics and bring them to life. Joan has authored many articles in educational journals including Middle School Journal and Middle Ground. Whether presenting a keynote or workshop, her ability to use music and stories while mixing research with reality makes Joan a highly respected presenter.
