NMSA Press Room

National Middle School Association (NMSA) is the only national education association dedicated exclusively to providing information and support to anyone interested in the health and education of young adolescents (10- to 15-year-olds). With over 30,000 members including principals, teachers, central office personnel, professors, college students, parents, community leaders, and education consultants across the United States, Canada, and 46 other countries. Our network of affiliate organizations in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Australia strengthens our outreach to the regional, state, provincial, and local levels.

Journalists, community members, policymakers, and others will find that NMSA is a source of current research and information about successful programs and practices for educating young adolescents. NMSA's landmark position paper, This We Believe: Successful Schools for Young Adolescents, provides a vision for successful middle level schools and delineates 14 characteristics that, when present over time, lead to higher levels of student achievement and overall achievement.
